Nyan Cat is considered the name of a YouTube video uploaded in April 2011, which became a web meme. The motion picture merged of a Japanese pop song having an animated cartoon cat while using the body of the Pop-Tart, flying through space, and leaving a rainbow trail it has. The video ranked at the 5th one upon the list of most viewed YouTube videos in 2011. On April 2, 2011, the GIF animation of said cat was posted by 25-year-old Christopher Torres of Dallas, Texas, who uses the name “prguitarman”, on his website LOL-Comics. Torres explained in interview wherein the idea regarding the animation came from: “I’d been conducting a donation drive for the Red Cross and in-between drawings within my Livestream video chat, two different people mentioned I ought to draw a “Pop Tart” and a “cat”. In response, he created a hybrid image – a Pop-Tart as well as a cat, that was created a 7 days later into the animated GIF.
